The European Bioeconomy Alliance calls for expanding the list of strategic net-zero industrial activities

Brussels, 19 January 2024 - In a letter to Christian Ehler, member of the European Parliament, the European Bioeconomy Alliance and its 16 members (including Biochem Europe) call for expanding the list of strategic net-zero activities in the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA).
EUBA believes that supporting a strong biomaterials industrial base should be among the strategic priorities of the Net Zero Industry Act to continue the path of a just and equitable ecological transition.
Therefore, EUBA would like to propose the following compromise text for the ongoing policy discussions: “biomaterials production technologies, including biotech climate and energy solutions/biotechnologies and bio-based chemical production technologies”.
The EUBA position can be found here.
