The European Bioeconomy Alliance unveils its policy asks for 2024 and beyond

Brussels, 30 November 2023 - In an event hosted by Euractiv, the European Bioeconomy Alliance (EUBA) released its latest publication "The Bioeconomy Blueprint".
EUBA comprises of 15 European associations representing the main actors of the circular bioeconomy value chains, from the biomass producers to the manufacturers of ingredients, materials, chemicals and products. BioChem Europe represents the European biomass-derived chemicals producers as one of its members.
As the European elections approach, EUBA members call on policy makers to realise the full potential of the circular economy.
Among the various asks directed to the next Commission and Parliament:
  • a high-level European "bio-coordinator" and a reinforced commitment across the Institutions' services
  • a long-term, stable and consistent regulatory and policy environment
  • robust data and knowledge gathering on the bioeconomy in its various components and its impacts on society, on the economy and on the environment
  • measures to accelerate the market uptake of bio-based products, materials and chemicals
The EUBA Bioeconomy Blueprint can be downloaded here.
